Our Classes
Beginners Class
We hold classes sessions for Beginners twice a year, in September-November and February-April. We welcome everyone from 10 years old through adults. You’ll learn how to move on the strip, how to attack and defend yourself, and some basic strategy. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to fence on the piste! Each class meets for an hour once per week, for a ten-week session. All special fencing equipment that you’ll need is provided.
The Spring Beginner’s class will be Tuesdays, March 11-May 18 from 7:30-8:30 pm. Send an email to centralarkansasfencing@gmail.com if you’d like to join this class. Fill out the form below to get your name on the list for future classes.
Continuing Fencing Class
In the Fall and Spring, we’ll hold weekly meetings for anyone who’s learned the basics of fencing. These drills and exercises focus on physical fitness, continued skill development, and bouting strategy.
Spring Continuing Fencing classes are being held on Tuesdays at 6:30-7:30 pm from March 11 - May 6!
Individual Lessons
Our coaches offer individual lessons for club members by request, as time permits. Ask Coach Benjamin or Coach Jon if you are interested in lessons in foil; talk to Coach Harry about sabre lessons.
Open Fencing
Why do we do drills and take lessons? So that we can fence! Open fencing is also a great way to improve your skills. While we have classes going on Tuesdays, the strips are open for fencing on Thursdays from 6:30-8:00 pm. During the summer and winter (when there are no classes going on), open fencing is on both Tuesday and Thursdays.
Put your name on the list for the upcoming classes.
We are now collecting names of people interested in our next set of classes. Get your name on the list and receive updates by filling out this form. The information goes to a Google spreadsheet with limited access, and it will be used only for communication about the upcoming class, not for any other purpose.
Although children can differ widely in intellectual and physical development, we recommend that all students be at least 10 years old before beginning our classes. They are not designed for younger children, and fencing requires both attention and physical strength and coordination.
